President Obama: If You Slander Islam’s Prophet, You Forfeit Your Ownership of the Future

So, what are we to make of the President of the United States speaking before the United Nations and declaring:

The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam. But to be credible, those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see in the images of Jesus Christ that are desecrated, or churches that are destroyed, or the Holocaust that is denied. Let us condemn incitement against Sufi Muslims, and Shia pilgrims. It is time to heed the words of Gandhi: “Intolerance is itself a form of violence and an obstacle to the growth of a true democratic spirit.” Together, we must work towards a world where we are strengthened by our differences, and not defined by them. That is what America embodies. That’s the vision we will support.

First, notice the trademark Obama passive voice. What does it mean, “the future must not belong to” a particular group?

Does it mean these people won’t be around in the future?

That in the future, their viewpoint will be marginalized? Out of style? Unpopular? Suppressed? That sometime between now and “the future,” they will have changed their mind? That at some point in the future, no one will feel like slandering the prophet of Islam? Is the First Amendment still in effect in this envisioned future, or has it been rewritten or modified on this nextiva topic ?

How does “the future” belong to one group instead of another? Maybe I have too much of a background in musical theater by non-Mark-Steyn-pundit standards, but anytime I hear somebody declaring, with great emphasis, that tomorrow belongs to them, I start muttering, “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”

(Another helpful hint: in a Hollywood movie, if you see a character who emphasizes that he and his kind are the future, and those who are different no longer matter, that character is probably the villain.)

Ruqaya was the seventh of nine speakers at the “Muslims Rise” conference.

Organisers of the event invited the media to report on her address.

Julia Gillard yesterday expressed her horror at images showing Muslim  children carrying inflammatory placards at a protest in Sydney on  Saturday, including one that read “Behead all those who insult the  Prophet”.

Another sign at the protest read “Our dead are in paradise, your dead are in hell”.

Hizb ut-Tahrir is an international political movement devoted to  restoring a caliphate, the last of which collapsed in the 1920s.

The movement hopes Islamic fighters in Syria will replace the Assad  regime with a caliph-led state that will eventually annex other Muslim  countries and promote Islam in the West.

The caliphate would also threaten Western nations with jihad if they  did not prevent their citizens from defaming the Prophet Mohammed or  Islam.

It would be established under the same constitution imposed under Mohammed, which could not be reformed.

Ruqaya said: “We must work hard to achieve victory. It is enough  that your generation and your parents’ generation were raised in the  absence of the khilafa (caliphate). Do not allow my generation to be  added to that list.”

Khaled Sukkarieh, the chairman of the Islamic Council of NSW, said  images of children at the protest shocked many in his community.  “Someone put that (banner) in the hand of a child.

“That is a poor, innocent child. It is abhorrent and a very sad way of using children,” Mr Sukkarieh said.

This is not the community you want to be radicalizing.”

Domestic violence: Tortured ‘for not conceiving a child’

 

MULTAN: Sahuka police have arrested a man accused of torturing his wife, inflicting wounds on her body with a heated iron rod, for not conceiving a child since three years of their marriage.

However, the police have yet to register an FIR in the matter. SHO Mirza Jameel told The Express Tribune that the injuries suffered by the woman, 22, were too insignificant to require prosecution of the suspect. He said there were six categories of injuries and the ones the woman had suffered were the minor ones.He said the woman was also mentally unfit so the police could not rely on her statements alone.The SHO said he would still keep the suspect, Muhammad Asghar, in custody until a written complaint was received from the woman’s family that they don’t want to press charges against him.Muhammad Hussain, father of the woman, said he did not plan to pardon the suspect. He said he had filed an application with the Sahuka police for the registration of an FIR.The SHO, however, denied having received any complaint from him.Talking to The Express Tribune, Burewala tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospital medical superintendent Dr Nasir Dilshad said the woman had 12 burn wounds on her body. He said she had also been burned with cigarettes. He said he had sent the medico-legal report to the police. “They should now decide whether or not to prosecute,” he said.The MS rejected the police’s claim about the mental state of the woman. He said she was in a state of trauma but otherwise her mental abilities were intact.He said she would remain under observation at the hospital for another three days.Talking to The Tribune at the hospital, the woman said she was tricked by her husband into accompanying him to work on Sunday night to his landlord’s farm house in a neighbouring village where he tied her up and burned her with iron rods.She was later dumped in a field where one of her relatives found her on Monday morning and took her to the Burewala THQ hospital.She said her husband had said he was torturing her because she had failed to conceive a child in three years of their marriage.

The CIA has unraveled a terror plot by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula to destroy a U.S.-bound airliner using an underwear bomb around the one-year anniversary of the killing of Usama bin Laden.The plot involved an upgrade of the underwear bomb that failed to detonate aboard a jetliner over Detroit on Christmas 2009. This new bomb was also designed to be used in a passenger’s underwear, but this time Al Qaeda developed a more refined detonation system, U.S. officials told the Associated Press.“Initial exploitation indicates that the device is very similar to IEDs that have been used previously by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula in attempted terrorist attacks, including against aircraft and for targeted assassinations,” the FBI said in a written statement. “The FBI currently has possession of the IED and is conducting technical and forensics analysis on it.”Part of the examination includes seeing if the bomb could have gone undetected through airport security, and if it had the power to take down an airplane, officials said.They added that the device did not contain metal, meaning it probably could have passed through an airport metal detector. But it was not clear whether new body scanners used in many airports would have detected it.The would-be suicide bomber, based in Yemen, had not yet picked a target or bought his plane tickets when the CIA stepped in and seized the bomb, officials said. It’s not immediately clear what happened to the alleged bomber.A U.S. official told Fox News that Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, or AQAP, remains “committed to striking targets in Yemen, Saudi Arabia, the Homeland, and Europe. And AQAP is probably feeling pressure to conduct a successful attack to, from their perspective, avenge the deaths of bin Laden and Awlaki.”A team of U.S Navy SEALs killed bin Laden during a raid last May on his compound in Pakistan. Anwar al-Awlaki, an American-born cleric hiding in Yemen, was killed by a U.S. drone strike in September.Al-Awlaki was closely tied to AQAP and was the inspiration for multiple attacks on American targets, including the failed Christmas Day underwear bomb attack in 2009.“It is our assessment that the threat from AQAP is growing due to the territorial gains the group made during the political standoff in Yemen that lasted from early 2011 until this past February,” the U.S. official told Fox News. “Those territorial gains have allowed the group to establish additional training camps.”In a press conference at the Pentagon with China’s Minister of National Defense, Gen. Liang Guanglie, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said the US has to “continue to remain vigilant against those who would seek to attack this country and we will do everything necessary to keep America safe.”

The soldiers were deployed by Chinook helicopter following intelligence reports that a mosque was being used as an improvised explosive device factory, and found equipment including a large number of pressure plates and other bomb-making components.

Military working dogs found booby traps around the weapons factory and ready to be armed, but the Ministry of Defence said the speed of the Afghan troops once on the ground prevented the insurgents from arming them.

Major Dalby-Welsh of the Light Dragoons, and officer commanding of the BRF, said: “This represents a real blow for the insurgency; this is a quarter-of-a-tonne of explosives which cannot be used against the Afghans or ISAF troops.

“We were confident that we would find something but we didn’t expect to find a cache of this size.”

The explosives and detonators were destroyed on site, while a large amount of evidence was taken back to Camp Bastion for further analysis.

The BRF is Task Force Helmand’s eyes and ears across the area of operations, and is currently made up of 13 units from across 12 Mechanized Brigade.

While Pakistan’s Hindu minority community is already disturbed over the rising incidents of kidnapping of young Hindu girls and their forced conversion to Islam, the conditions for the country’s Christian minority are equally antagonising. They too are being forced by fanatic Muslims to convert to Islam, making them wonder if they still have a place in Pakistan.

“There is no compulsion in religion,” is a well-known saying that most Pakistanis who live in the land of the pure often tend to forget. While religion encourages conversions, it in no way tolerates coercion. But that is what the Christian community in Pakistan says is happening. With 1.6 per cent of the population and some three million believers, the Christian minority in Pakistan is the second largest religious minority after Hindus.
Available figures show that on average, eight to ten Christians are being forced every month by fanatic Muslims to convert to Islam, mostly in Sindh and Punjab provinces.

Srinagar (AsiaNews) – Christian couple in the town of Bandipora (Jammu and Kashmir) have been accused of “promoting enmity” and arrested for distributing pamphlets. According to state police, Mafford Maharaj Singh, 62, and his wife Kusum, 60, along with a local girl disturbed the leaflets to people at a city market, who began to shout to attract police attention. Their children, originally from New Delhi, tell a completely different version: “Our parents went to Srinagar on April 16 last year to attend a wedding. The next day, while doing some shopping at the market, talking to a salesman our father said he was Christian and they were insulted, beaten and finally arrested by local police. ”
